POETRY: Glass

Inferno
Red hot glow
Coarse dark grains
Melted
To smooth
Sheets
Of Glass
Thin
Transparent and deceptive
Reflection
Of a Shadow
That looks
Out into nothing
Hollow
There
Not there
Fade in
Back again
Dim
To black
Gone for good

Hi Alice, I thought I’d comment here, both to say this was really neat (though I don’t pretend to be one who can truly understand or appreciate poetry), and to say that I had trouble commenting on the cyberpunk story. When I tried to leave one there as a guest, it shunted me over to a registration window that wouldn’t accept a registration. So… Here’s my comment on that story, too:
This (The Future Is Here) is a fantastic story. It surprised me several times already. It looks like you’ve developed this cyberpunk world quite a bit already, and I can’t wait to read more.

Thanks for your thoughts on ‘Glass.’ I’ll admit that poetry is far from my forté. In most cases, poetry as a form of writing eludes me. I wrote this as a response to something that came up in relation to an odd situation.
Thank you, also, for the comments on the cyberpunk series. It started as serialized flash fiction. I really love the story and haven’t had an opportunity to continue the piece though I hope to do so starting early next year. There is so much more to the story!
Sorry you had trouble with the comments over there. It’s a hand-coded website which is why I used Disqus for the comments. I’ll have to check into it and see if there is some problem on my end which kept you from commenting. I’ll be sure to let you know when I resume the storyline.
Hugs,
Alice
Thanks very much. Red Bud says he’s going to help educate me with respect to poetry. He’s got his work cut out for him. I admire your hand coding! The comment problem there may also be on my end, since the login window was a pop-up and Safari+Adblock might be squirelly with that.
I have to say, serialized flash sounds like a really interesting idea. I have lots of stand alone flash, and “real” stories, but hadn’t thought of writing a longer story in bite size chunks. Do you have an outline for much of it, or just basic ideas that develop as you go segment by segment?
Say, you don’t happen to Gmail chat, do you? This back and forth on comments is very cumbersome. Chat’s so much easier and more satisfying. Let me know!
